The U.S. Embassy announces guidelines for the 2017 ESF-funded Democracy Outreach/Alumni Program. Pending the availability of funds, this program allows the U.S. Embassy to provide support for U.S. Government (USG) alumni activities.
PROGRAM OVERVIEW
The Program allows posts to
(1) Provide individual grants to Georgian USG alumni, for activities that support democratic advancement and economic reform; or
(2) Sponsor alumni events through the Embassy. The program is administered directly by the Public Affairs Office of the U.S. Embassy.
PROGRAM DEADLINES
Please submit your grant proposal before the following deadlines:
January 15, 2017
April 15, 2017
July 15, 2017
The applicant can submit proposals on all three deadlines, up to 2 (two) applications on each call.
PROGRAM GOALS
The maximum amount of funds that may be requested is $5,000 (pending the availability of funds). Funding may be used to support the following:
Initiate a public or community service program;
Support alumni association events;
Organize training programs or conferences for professional colleagues and/or other alumni;
Continue funding existing alumni centers
Organize networking events;
Develop and publish textbooks, brochures, pamphlets, or related reference or educational materials on topics that further USG assistance goals;
Conduct projects that support democratic and economic reform initiatives, including in the area of entrepreneurism.
Etc.
Maximum project period is one year. Food and refreshments costs for conferences and networking events are allowable up to 10% of the total project costs. Cost sharing with recipient organizations is strongly encouraged. Budget should include VAT and income tax. Honorarium can be included in the budget, except for the applying USG alumni, who is expected to volunteer for the project.
Materials published under these grants must be reviewed and approved by the Embassy prior to dissemination.
While final approval of grants is carried out in Washington D.C., the technical review process may last one to two months.

a) REPORTING
Upon completing of the project, the project implementers should present two final reports: 1. Financial report (please attach copies of receipts); 2. Program report (please indicate results achieved).
b) TRAVEL INSURANCE
All applicants are required to obtain travel insurance and provide U.S. Embassy with a copy of the insurance upon approval of the grant.
